Description
Welcome!
This resource pack is inspired by the philosophy of Charlotte Mason, who proposed that children should be offered a rich “feast”. She also advocated spending time with particular composers and artists so as to get to know their individual style. This month’s enrichment resources link with the literature resources, Tales of the Waves (both Little Lights and Shimmering Stars and can also be enjoyed as a standalone unit. It consists of suggestions of artists and their work to enjoy, with links to videos and music, and ideas of how to incorporate them.
This resource is aimed at parents and includes interesting information for your own reference which you can share with your children as you enjoy the activities. Each month we will explore a different composer, artist, folk music style and poet. This is a very open-ended resource. Ideas are included for how you can enrich your home and educational journeys with the music, poetry and art.
This month, the featured composer is Johannes Brahms. The folk music is Sea Shanties (with one sneaky whaling song!) and the artist is the British sculptor, Emma Stothard. The poet is Robert Louis Stevenson and the resource pack includes poems from his book, A Child’s Garden of Verses.
