Description
This study pack is designed to support students aged approximately 11-16 who are considering GCSE English in the future and looking to develop their close text analysis skills and understanding of poetry. It is not a GCSE scheme but designed to introduce key skills needed for this. The 30 page scheme is divided into five parts, each section centred around a different nautical poem by a range of poets. This pack gently guides you, the parent, as you work with your child to help them develop key skills such as:
- Understanding of poetic devices, structure and form
- Awareness of purpose and intention
- Annotation
- Interpreting texts
- Interpreting comprehension and analysis questions
- How to structure and answer a range of question styles
- Writing poetry
Please note that this is a resource pack designed for parents and students will need support as they work through this project.
